15 Feb (HS): In a significant initiative towards making rural youth

self-reliant under the guidance of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD),

Government of India, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission is organizing

a two-day regional workshop-cum-pre-EC meeting on February 16 and 17, 2026, at

Hotel Centrum, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. Officials from Uttar Pradesh, Ladakh,

Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Bihar, and Jharkhand will participate in

this workshop.

Kapil

Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education,

Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Uttar Pradesh, stated that the main

objective of the workshop is to formulate a strategy for the effective

implementation of the upcoming phases of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya

Yojana (DDU-GKY 2.0) and RSETI (RSETI 2.0). During this, the annual action plan

(AAP) for 2026 will be discussed, skill training targets will be set, and

effective models for connecting rural youth with employment after training will

be deliberated.

This

high-level meeting will be chaired by the Joint Secretary (Skills) of the

Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Managing Directors and

senior officials from SRLMs, SSDMs of various states, RSETI lead bank

representatives from the banking sector, and experts from NAR, NACER, and NIC

will participate in the program.

Agarwal stated that the Yogi government is continuously striving to connect the

youth of the state with skills, employment, and entrepreneurship. This workshop

will prove to be an important step towards enhancing coordination among states,

effective implementation of skill development schemes, and providing

employment-oriented opportunities to rural youth.
