TTV Dhinakaran Criticizes DMK Over Cash Payout And Alleged Failure Of Governance

Chennai, 14 February (H.S.) : Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran launched a scathing attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Saturday, asserting that no amount of financial incentives would secure votes for the party in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to reporters, Dhinakaran reacted to the government’s recent decision to credit a Rs 5,000 payout to women beneficiaries, claiming that even if the government provided Rs 1 lakh per month, the people of Tamil Nadu would remain disillusioned due to unfulfilled promises and deteriorating state conditions.

Dhinakaran alleged that the DMK government has presided over a significant decline in law and order, specifically highlighting a rising drug culture where narcotics like ganja are reportedly accessible even near educational institutions. He further expressed grave concern over the safety of citizens, particularly women and children, stating that many have become victims of sexual violence under the current regime.

According to the AMMK leader, these systemic failures cannot be masked by sudden monetary distributions, which he described as a desperate attempt to buy votes out of fear of the emerging political opposition.

Furthermore, Dhinakaran accused the state government of diverting funds intended for the welfare of Adi Dravidars and tribal communities to facilitate this payout for women. He argued that the followers of the late leader Jayalalithaa have united, creating a formidable front that has intimidated the ruling party.

While Chief Minister MK Stalin defended the move as a fulfillment of his Women’s Rights Grant promise and signaled a potential increase in monthly assistance to Rs 2,000 under a future mandate, Dhinakaran maintained that the public’s trust has been permanently breached.

The AMMK General Secretary’s remarks come amid intensifying political activity as the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly prepares for the 2026 polls. With other political figures like TVK chief Vijay also questioning the timing of these financial credits, the political discourse in the state has shifted heavily toward welfare spending versus administrative accountability.

Dhinakaran concluded by stating that the DMK’s reliance on money for votes would ultimately fail as the electorate prioritizes safety, employment, and genuine development over temporary cash benefits.
