
Nagpur, 14 Feb
(HS): Fifty e-buses under the ‘PM e-Buses’ project were added to Nagpur’s city
bus services on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the buses in
virtual mode from Gwahati. The 50, out of the sanctioned 150 buses were given
in the first phase on Saturday.
Maharashtra’s
Revenue Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor
Neeta Thakre, Deputy Mayor Leela Hathibed, legislators Krishna Khopde, Sandeep
Joshi, Ruling Party Leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar, many corporators and former
mayors were present at the Nagpur’s Koradi Bus Depot.
Besides Nagpur’s
50, Modi dedicated 100 e-buses for Guwahati, 50 for Bhawnagar in Gujarat, and
25 for Chandigarh.
Mayor Thakre
thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making available environment-friendly
buses for Nagpur. The buses will facilitate travellers in Nagpur. The programme
started with lighting of traditional lamp.
Nagpur Municipal
Corporation PRO Manish Soni conducted the proceedings, while City Transport
Manager Dr Meghana Wasankar proposed a vote of thanks.
Later Bawankar
along with Mayor Thakre, Deputy Mayor Hathibed, legislators Joshi and Khopde
and others had a ride in the new e-bus.
