Bongaon (Assam), 14 February (HS): Bird Nest Protection Day was observed with enthusiasm at Bongaon Chola Higher Secondary School on Saturday, highlighting the importance of conserving avian habitats and promoting environmental awareness among students.

The programme was organised under the initiative of the school’s Principal and Director of the environmental organisation ‘Chorai Bandhu’, Girimallika Saikia, with Assistant Principal Amulya Tamuli anchoring the event. The formal inauguration of the Bird Nest Protection Day activities was carried out by noted environmentalist and senior journalist Apurba Ballav Goswami.

Speakers at the event stressed the need to protect bird nests and natural habitats, especially amid increasing urbanisation and environmental degradation. Students and teachers actively participated in the programme, reaffirming their commitment to wildlife conservation and ecological balance.-----------
