Gadchiroli, 14 Feb (HS): Maharashtra’s Minister for
Public Health Prakash Ambitkar visited renowned social worker Dr Prakash Amte’s
Lokbiradari Project in Hemalkasa in Bhamragad tehsil of Gadchiroli district. During
discussion with Magsaysay award and Padma Shree awardee Dr Amte demanded
facilities to snake-bite patients in Gadchiroli.
Dr Amte informed Ambitkar that he has been working
in Hemalkasa for the last 52 years, of which 22 years without electricity and
other amenities. Deaths due to snake-bite are common in the tribal-dominated region.
Ambitkar reviewed arrangements in Aheri Sub-District
Hospital and Bharmarad Rural Hospital, and issued instructions relating to
medicine supply, basic facilities, filing up vacancies and strengthen the rural
health services. He also assured that positive steps will be taken to resolve
the complaints of the people in Gadchiroli.
