Kolkata, 13 February (H.S.): The Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police carried out a late-night raid in Murshidabad district and arrested two persons in possession of illegal firearms. The development was confirmed on Friday afternoon by STF Superintendent of Police Indrajit Sarkar.

According to SP Sarkar, acting on credible source information and technical inputs, an STF team launched a targeted operation in different parts of Murshidabad district on Thursday night. During the operation, two accused were apprehended.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Samsad Ali alias Kalu and Rajesh Sk, both residents of Murshidabad district.

During the raid, the STF recovered two 7.65 mm firearms, four magazines, and six rounds of live ammunition from their possession. All the seized weapons and ammunition have been taken into custody.

A specific case has been registered against the accused at the STF West Bengal Headquarters Police Station. Both were produced before the district court, which granted seven days of police custody (PC) for further interrogation.

STF officials stated that sustained questioning of the accused is expected to yield crucial information regarding the source and supply network of the illegal arms. Further investigation into the case is underway.
