New Delhi, 12 February (H.S.): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accompanied by a Congress delegation of MPs, met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh here on Thursday to extend a formal invitation for the Gandhi Sarovar Project's foundation stone-laying ceremony slated for late February at the sacred confluence of the Esa and Musi rivers.
In an X post, Reddy noted briefing Singh on the site's profound historical significance: in February 1948, Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed there, rendering it a symbol of religious reverence and national unity. The project forms part of the ambitious Musi River Rejuvenation initiative, aiming to revive the river's ecosystem while establishing Bapu Ghat as a global hub for education, culture, spirituality, and environmental conservation.
Reddy emphasized the visionary development of a Gandhi Circle of Unity, underscoring its role in honoring Gandhian ideals and fostering sustainable urban renewal. Several Telangana Congress MPs joined the meeting, reinforcing state-central collaboration on this landmark endeavor.
