Kolkata, 11 February (H.S.): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh has alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is making every effort to stop the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal.
Speaking to reporters in Newtown on Wednesday morning, Dilip Ghosh said that the state government and the ruling party want to stop the SIR process from proceeding. He said, All those involved in the SIR are government employees. If they don't get cooperation, how will the process be completed? On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is approaching the court to protect herself.
Ghosh alleged that the Trinamool Congress does not want a transparent and fair revision of the voter list.
Notably, the final voter list under the SIR process in West Bengal will be published on February 28. The Election Commission released the revised schedule on Tuesday.
State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agrawal issued the new notification after a meeting at the Election House in Delhi. The special intensive revision process will be completed within the stipulated timeframe, as directed by the Election Commission.
