The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police carried out a major operation on Wednesday morning, acting on intelligence inputs, and arrested a drug dealer in Raiganj Police District. During the operation, approximately 700 grams of heroin, concealed in a plastic tiffin box, were recovered from his possession.
A joint team of STF, Kolkata Police, and SOG, Raiganj, intercepted the accused at Siliguri Morh in the Raiganj police station area. The arrested individual has been identified as Md Sabbir Sheikh (18), resident of Khaschandpur, Kaliachak Police Station, Malda District.
Police officials said that the seized heroin has an estimated value of around ₹3.5 crore in the international grey market.
STF officials described the operation as part of an ongoing effort to curb drug trafficking and dismantle large-scale drug networks. Legal proceedings and further interrogation of the accused are underway.
The Kolkata Police STF hailed this seizure as a significant achievement in the fight against drug trafficking.
