Chennai, 11 February (H.S.) : A 26 year old man lost his life and another individual sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident near Anangur Government High School in Namakkal district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as K Soundarrajan, a resident of Kunnathur Saminathapuram. According to local police reports, the accident occurred when the two wheeler the victims were traveling on skidded uncontrollably and crashed into an electric pole.

Soundarrajan, who was riding the motorcycle at the time of the incident, suffered a severe chest injury and died on the spot before medical assistance could reach the scene.

The pillion rider, identified as 22 year old M Kavin from Chinna Kavundampalayam, survived the crash but suffered a fracture in his leg. He was immediately rescued by onlookers and rushed to the Government Hospital in Paramathi Velur for emergency treatment. Authorities stated that the duo was traveling from Paramathi Vellore toward Jedarpalayam when the rider lost control of the vehicle.

The impact of the collision with the electric pole was so forceful that it resulted in instantaneous death for the rider, while the pillion rider remains under medical supervision for his injuries.

The Jedarpalayam police arrived at the site shortly after the incident to conduct an initial investigation and manage the traffic flow in the area. A formal case has been registered regarding the accident, and the body of the deceased was sent for a post mortem examination.

Police officials have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while navigating the stretch, especially during evening hours, to prevent such fatal mishaps. Further inquiries are underway to determine if any external factors or road conditions contributed to the vehicle skidding off its path.
