Nashik, 13 Mar (HS): The Education Department has

appointed an administrator on 28 educational institutions run by Mahatma Gandhi

Vidyamandir, founded by political giant Bhausaheb Hiray in Nashik district. The

Vidyamandir, which is now run by Hiray family, has been charged with several malpractice

for fetching higher grants and misuse of government grants.

It was

noticed that fake enrolment of students was shown. Disparity in enrolment and

attendance of students was noticed. Higher enrolment was shown based on which

more number of teachers and other employees were shown on muster for getting

higher grants. Many of the teachers were drawing their salaries from other

schools. Negligence in providing basic facilities, security and examinations in

schools were also noticed.

After issuing show cause notice to the management

and hearing, Education Department appointed an Administrator on the 28 schools.

Investigation into the malpractice was also initiated. The orders to appoint

administrator was issued by Minister for School Education Dada Bhuse.

Political circles in Nashik are discussing the issue

of rivalry between Hiray and Bhuse and suspect action as a fallout of the

rivalry.
