Power sharing will not work in Tamil Nadu says CM Stalin

Chennai, 11 February (H.S.) : Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Wednesday firmly asserted that the concept of power sharing would not work in Tamil Nadu, effectively ruling out any possibility of a coalition government following the upcoming Assembly elections.

Speaking during a rapid fire session at a media conclave, the Chief Minister emphasized that his party is seeking a mandate based on its governance record and the success of various welfare schemes implemented during its current tenure. He expressed absolute confidence that the DMK led alliance is the only front capable of securing a victory in the state polls.

The Chief Minister set an ambitious target for the party, stating that they are confident of winning at least 200 seats and potentially surpassing their performance in the 2021 elections. This statement serves as the first direct public response to the repeated demands for power sharing made by alliance partner Congress.

Despite his firm stance against a coalition cabinet, CM Stalin reiterated his strong personal rapport with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He confirmed that both parties would face the upcoming electoral battle together as united partners under the existing alliance framework.

Addressing the rumors of internal friction, the Chief Minister alleged that certain sections of the media were attempting to create confusion within the alliance to weaken their partnership. He dismissed these efforts, stating that the party remains unfazed by such tactics.

By clarifying the DMK's position on independent governance, CM Stalin has sought to put an end to the ongoing debate regarding administrative roles for alliance members, focusing instead on the party's goal of achieving a massive majority in the 2026 Assembly elections.
