11 Feb (HS): Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented a budget of
Rs. 9,12,696.35 billion in the state assembly on Wednesday. This is
approximately 12.9 percent more than the fiscal year 2025-26. Capital
expenditure in this budget is 19.5 percent. Allocations for education and
health are 12.4 percent and 6 percent of the total budget, respectively.
Allocations for agriculture and allied services are 9 percent of the total
budget. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that new schemes worth Rs. 43,565
crore (43.3 million rupees) have been included in this budget. The fiscal
deficit limit for the 2026-27 fiscal year has been set at 3 percent, which will
remain in effect until 2030-31.
Compared
to the year 2016, there has been a decrease of 89 percent, 85 percent, 47
percent, 70 percent and 62 percent respectively in cases of robbery, loot,
murder, riot and kidnapping for ransom. An arrangement of Rs 14,997 crore has
been made for medical education. A provision of Rs. 37,956 crore has been
proposed for medical health and family welfare, which is 15 percent more than
last year. An amount of approximately Rs 2,867 crore has been arranged for
AYUSH services.
A
provision of Rs 27,103 crore is proposed for infrastructure and industrial
development schemes. This is a 13 percent increase compared to last year. A
provision of Rs 3,822 crore has been made for schemes for the MSME sector, a
19% increase from last year. Approximately Rs 5,410 million has been allocated
for handloom and textile industry schemes. This is five times more than last
year. A provision of Rs 2,059 crore is proposed for IT and electronics schemes,
an increase of 76% compared to last year. An arrangement of Rs 34 thousand 468
crore has been made for the construction, widening and maintenance of roads and
bridges.
A
provision of Rs 18,290 crore is proposed for irrigation and flood control
schemes. This is 30% more than the 2025-26 budget. A provision of approximately
Rs 22,676 crore is proposed for Namami Gange and rural water supply. A total of
Rs 65,926 crore has been allocated for energy sector projects, an eight percent
increase over last year. A provision of Rs 7,705 crore is proposed for housing
and urban planning. There is a proposal to make a provision of approximately Rs
26,514 crore for urban development. An arrangement of Rs 75 crore has been made
for one district one dish.
A
provision of Rs 2,111 crore is proposed for civil aviation. Approximately Rs 32,090
crore has been allocated for Panchayati Raj schemes, a 67% increase compared to
last year. A provision of Rs 2000 crore is proposed for the maintenance of
stray cattle and Rs 100 crore for the establishment of large conservation centres.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, a provision of Rs 195 crore and
Rs 115 crore has been made for the male and female components respectively. A
provision of Rs 77 thousand 622 crore is proposed for basic education. A
provision of Rs 22,167 crore is proposed for secondary education, a 15 percent
increase from last year. An amount of approximately Rs 6591 crore has been
arranged for higher education.
An
arrangement of Rs 2,365 crore has been made for technical education. The budget
for vocational education has been increased by 88 percent compared to last year
and a provision of about Rs 3,349 crore has been made. An amount of
approximately Rs 18,620 crore has been arranged for women and child development
schemes. An amount of Rs 3,402 crore has been arranged for backward class
welfare schemes. At the same time, a provision of Rs 2,058 crore is proposed
for minority welfare schemes.
