
North 24 Paragnas, 11 February (H.S.): The vandalism of the car belonging to Ashok Kirtania, BJP MLA from Bangaon North, has raised political tensions in the area. The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Beldanga Chauratla area of Gopalnagar police station area. The MLA's wife, Rinku Kirtania, has filed a written complaint at Gopalnagar police station. The police have launched an investigation.
As per information, the MLA's wife was on her way to attend a local event, accompanied by some of the MLA's close associates. As news of the MLA's arrival spread, some villagers allegedly stopped the car. Locals alleged that they questioned the MLA's alleged development work in the area and his absence following a previous incident.
Villagers claimed that when the MLA asked questions, people close to the MLA inside the car assaulted a villager named Dibyendu Devnath. The enraged crowd then vandalized the MLA's wife's car. The injured Dibyendu has been hospitalized.
Local resident Soumen Adhikari alleged that the MLA has not carried out the expected development work in the area. He said that the dispute arose when he raised questions on this issue.
On Wednesday, BJP MLA Ashok Kirtania made serious allegations, alleging a conspiracy to kill his wife and family. He said that even the families of public representatives are not safe in the state.
On the other hand, Vishwajit Das, president of the Bangaon Organizational District Trinamool Congress, retorted that he was raising questions about rural development work, but was assaulted by people close to the MLA.
Tension prevails in the area following the incident. The police are investigating the entire matter and verifying the veracity of the allegations from both sides.
