Prayagraj,
09 Jan (HS): The
objective of the 'Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihoods Mission
(Gramin)', or VB-G Ram-G, is to establish rural employment not merely as a
welfare scheme but as a guarantee linked to development, in line with the
vision of 'Vikas Bharat 2047'. The Congress and the opposition are opposing and
spreading confusion among the public.
Speaking
to the media at the Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Circuit House in Prayagraj,
Minister-in-Charge of Prayagraj and Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev
Singh said this on Friday. He said that the Act aims to modernize rural
employment and addresses the long-standing weaknesses of MNREGA by providing
technology-based transparency, stronger accountability, and a special focus on
sustainable resources and long-term rural production.
The Jal
Shakti Minister stated that the guaranteed employment for every rural household has been
increased from 100 days to 125 days, a 25 percent increase, and 60 days have
been reserved for agricultural work, guaranteeing 185 days of work, making it a
legally standard right. The list of permissible works has been narrowed from
over 260 scattered works to just four main areas: water security, rural
infrastructure, livelihood assets, and climate protection. Farmers' interests
have been protected by prohibiting other works during the key sowing and
harvesting seasons, a total of 60 days. Unemployment allowance has now been
established as a clear and time-bound right.
The
Minister said that to make the country corruption free, AI based fraud
detection, GPS, weekly mobile tracking, public data publication, mandatory
twice a year social audit and steering committees have been formed at the
central and state level to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement.
The
government is working on reforms being made in MNREGA. However, the Congress
party and the opposition are spreading confusion among the public. Nepotism was
not evident during Congress rule, when all schemes and hospitals were named
after members of a single family. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar
Azad, Sardar Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and other prominent figures of the
country were sidelined. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath are continuously advancing the policy of Sabka
Saath Sabka Vikas.
