Bhubaneswar, 05 January (H.S.): The Kendrapara district administration has ordered a formal inquiry into the alleged abuse and attempted attack on Rajnagar Block Development Officer (BDO) Tilottama Prusty, following an incident reported on January 2. Acting on a complaint submitted by the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association, the District Collector on Monday directed officials to investigate the matter and assured strict action against those found responsible.
In the aftermath of the incident, BDO Tilottama Prusty has proceeded on leave. Police confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the accused on behalf of the Rajnagar Block Chairman.
The matter came to public attention after a video, purportedly showing the altercation, went viral on social media. The footage allegedly depicts a group of public representatives inside the BDO’s office, reportedly led by local BJP leader Lalit Behera. One person is seen attempting to lift and throw a laptop during a heated exchange.
Sources said the confrontation stemmed from a dispute over the clearance of bills and the sanctioning of development works. As per available information, a local leader along with more than 30 supporters allegedly entered the BDO’s chamber around noon, surrounded the officer, and pressured her to clear certain bills and approve development projects.
