Prayagraj,

06 Jan (HS): Upon entering the sacred land of the Magh Mela on the banks of the

Sangam, devotees are awakened by spiritual consciousness, curiosity, and

devotion. It is a vibrant expression of our eternal and everlasting culture.

Professor Martand Singh expressed these views on Tuesday at the Shabd-Brahma

symposium, organized by the North Central Zone Cultural Center, Ministry of

Culture, Government of India, on the topic: The Greatness of the Magh

Mela: An Integrated Eternal Contemplation. He noted that Tulsidas, in his

Ramcharitmanas, mentions the significance of the Magh Mela, saying, When

the Sun moves to Capricorn in the month of Magh, everyone comes to the Tirthapati.

The Magh Mela is a heritage of our cultural identity and values, shaped by the

Puranas, scriptures, and Agamas. Nature itself appears to be present in its

saffron hue on the banks of the Sangam, which is the primary reason for the

attraction of the influx of people—Teerthrajo Jayati Prayag.

Following

this, Anupam Parihar, editor of Saraswati magazine, said that the Magh Mela is

a wonderful confluence of knowledge, faith, ritual, and science. Those thirsty

for knowledge come here in search of truth, while ordinary people seek

self-purification through Kalpavas and holy baths. He also highlighted the

scientific properties of Ganga water. A poetry recitation was organized as part

of the Brahmanad Kala Mahotsav competition.

Vasudev

Pandey recited, When the name of Ram echoes on the banks of the Sangam,

even a heart as hard as stone melts and becomes like wax. Aarti Singh,

while embodying the glory of Prayagraj, recited, Every particle of

Prayagraj's land calls out, 'Come to Prayagraj once.' That angel of love is no

more; the story of Radha and Krishna is no more. Furthermore, the poetic

presentations by Priyanka Yadav and Ravi Radhey also received immense

appreciation from the audience. The program began with the lighting of a lamp

by Center Director Sudesh Sharma and the speakers. They welcomed the speakers

with robes and saplings. Program advisor Kalpana Sahay honored the participants

with certificates of appreciation. The program was conducted by Dr. Abha

Madhur.
