Govt’s skill development vision strengthened, selected talents will represent
state in India Skills

23 Jan (HS): Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,
the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously taking effective initiatives to
empower the youth of the state with modern, employment-oriented and
global-standard skills. In this sequence, the state-level skill competition
organized in Lucknow under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission
under India Skills Competition-2026 was successfully completed in three phases.
A total of 1244 youth from 18 divisions of the state participated in the
competition and gave an impressive display of their technical skills,
innovation and efficiency.
The
first phase of the state-level skills competition was held from January 12th to
13th, 2026, with 464 youth participating in orientation and preparatory
activities. Subsequently, in the first phase's main competitions on January
13th, 2026, 451 participants excelled in six key skills, including Electronics,
Fashion Technology, CNC Turning, Welding, CNC Milling, and Additive
Manufacturing. The second phase was held from January 19th to 20th, 2026, in
which 391 youth participated in advanced and futuristic skills such as auto
body repair, automobile technology, cloud computing, cyber security, web
technologies, ICT network infrastructure, and software application development.
The third phase, held from January 22nd to 23rd, 2026, concluded the
state-level competition.
As
part of the competition, competitions in 20 key skills were held in
state-of-the-art workshops at 11 leading institutions in Lucknow. Participants
demonstrated their practical understanding, technical prowess, and creativity
using state-of-the-art machinery and technologies, in accordance with
WorldSkills' established standards. Enthusiasm, confidence, and a positive
competitive atmosphere were evident among the youth throughout all stages of
the competition.
Kapil
Dev Agarwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education,
Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, said that the Yogi government's goal
is to prepare youth for national and international competition, not just
training. The state-level skills competition provides a powerful opportunity
for youth to showcase their talents and reach the global stage.
Pulkit
Khare, Director of the Skill Development Mission, stated that special judging
committees, including industry representatives and technical experts, were
formed to ensure fair, transparent, and quality evaluation of the competitions.
Two outstanding talents will be selected from each skill, who will represent
Uttar Pradesh in the next level of the India Skills Competition. Prizes and
certificates will be presented to the selected talents on January 24, 2026.
He
said that the success of the state-level skills competition demonstrates that
the state's youth are fully prepared to adopt modern technologies and compete
at global standards. This event is an important milestone in making Uttar
Pradesh a leading state in the field of skills development.
