Odisha CM Increases Monthly Allowance of Gram Rakshaks to Rs 2,500


Bhubaneswar, 22 January (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an increase in the monthly allowance of Gram Rakshaks working in rural areas of the state. As per the decision, Gram Rakshaks will now receive Rs 2,500 per month, replacing the earlier allowance of Rs 1,800, the Chief Minister’s Office informed.

In addition, the Chief Minister has introduced a new system to make the functioning of Gram Rakshaks more systematic and effective. Under the revised arrangement, Gram Rakshaks will be required to report to their respective police stations once a week to mark their attendance.

Gram Rakshaks play a crucial role in maintaining peace and law and order in rural areas, besides assisting in the identification and prevention of criminal activities. The state government said the decision is aimed at boosting their morale and further strengthening the rural security mechanism.

The government expressed confidence that the enhanced allowance would lead to improved efficiency and greater dedication among Gram Rakshaks in the discharge of their duties.
