
Bhubaneswar, 22 January (H.S.): Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, carried out a surprise inspection of IG Park on Thursday to assess the condition of public amenities and the overall maintenance of the park.
Situated in a prime location in Bhubaneswar and visited daily by a large number of residents and tourists, IG Park requires sustained attention to cleanliness and upkeep. During the visit, the Minister interacted with visitors and sought feedback on the availability and quality of facilities provided in the park.
Dr. Mahapatra expressed strong dissatisfaction over inadequate maintenance, particularly highlighting the unhygienic condition of urinals and toilet facilities. He directed the concerned authorities to initiate immediate corrective measures to ensure proper sanitation, regular maintenance, and improved service standards. The Minister also warned that strict action would be taken against officials found negligent if such lapses persist.
Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Shri N. Ganesh Babu, accompanied the Minister during the inspection. Officials and maintenance staff of IG Park were instructed to strengthen monitoring and supervision mechanisms to ensure the park remains clean, safe, and visitor-friendly at all times.
