New Delhi, 19 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah paid homage on Monday to the brave personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on its Foundation Day, saluting their courage, dedication, and selfless service.

The Prime Minister described NDRF's role in life-saving, relief, and rehabilitation during disasters as an ideal for the country and the world, positioning it as a global benchmark in disaster management.

Home Minister Shah hailed NDRF as the nation's reliable pillar during calamities and offered tributes to its martyred jawans.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that in every harsh moment of disaster, NDRF jawans stand at the forefront, saving lives, delivering relief, and restoring hope. Their professional expertise and unwavering commitment exemplify the highest standards of service.

The Prime Minister added that over the years, NDRF has established a benchmark in disaster preparedness and response, earning international recognition.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah also extended Foundation Day greetings to NDRF personnel via X. He emphasized that NDRF plays a crucial role in realizing the Modi government's resolve to build a disaster-resilient India. Today, NDRF has become the country's strong pillar of trust during disasters. The Home Minister bowed to the martyred jawans who laid down their lives for others' safety.

Notably, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was established in 2006 under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Its objective is to ensure swift, coordinated, and professional relief and rescue operations during natural and man-made disasters.

NDRF's specially trained teams are deployed for earthquakes, floods, cyclones, landslides, industrial accidents, and chemical-biological emergencies.
