In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi offered floral tribute to Parvati Giri on her 100th birth anniversary, stating that she played a praiseworthy role in the movement to end colonial rule. Her passion for community service, healthcare, women's empowerment, and cultural preservation remains remarkable.
Prime Minister Modi had also mentioned Parvati Giri during his monthly radio program 'Mann Ki Baat' on December 28. In an X post shared then, he noted that the nation would celebrate Parvati Giri's birth centenary the following month, highlighting her significant contributions to the freedom struggle and her dedication to uplifting the poor and marginalized.
Notably, Parvati Giri (1926-1995) was a prominent freedom fighter and social reformer from Odisha, widely revered as the 'Mother Teresa of Western Odisha'.
