New Delhi, 19 January (H.S.): Congress has accused authorities of large-scale fraud in Rajasthan's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra claimed that under the guise of SIR, the Election Commission and BJP are attacking democracy by systematically removing Congress supporters from voter rolls.
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters on Monday, Dotasra alleged that in Jhunjhunu alone, 13,882 Form-7s were filed in a single day, 16,276 in Mandawa, 1,241 in Udaipurwati, and 1,478 in Khetri. Across the state, approximately 1,40,000 forms have been registered. He accused BJP of secretly conducting this operation during Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Rajasthan visit on January 13, printing 10,000-15,000 fake computerized forms per assembly constituency.
Dotasra stated that per rules, a Booth Level Agent (BLA) can submit only 10 forms per day, yet thousands were filed in SDM offices using forged signatures. Several BLAs have publicly stated that forms were submitted fraudulently in their names and remain incomplete.
The Congress leader further alleged that officials faced pressure to accept these forms, with dissenting staff transferred. He called this an assault on democracy and citizens' rights, asserting that Babasaheb's Constitution granted voting rights to the poor, now being stripped away.
Congress has formally complained to the Election Commission, warning that continued manipulation would render elections meaningless.
