
Tamulpur (Assam), 18 January (HS): A teenage girl was killed in a wild elephant attack at Tamulpur in Assam on Saturday night, triggering panic and grief in the area.
The incident occurred when the girl stepped out of her house premises, during which she was suddenly attacked by a wild elephant that had strayed into the locality. She died on the spot due to the severity of the attack.
The deceased has been identified as Sulekha Barman, a resident of Belter Khairani village. Following the incident, local residents informed the authorities and forest department officials rushed to the spot.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing man-animal conflict in forest-adjacent areas of the district.---------------
