Varanasi,

17 Jan (HS): Speaking to reporters in Varanasi, Ravindra Jaiswal, Minister of

State (Independent Charge) for Stamps, Court Fees, and Registration, Uttar

Pradesh, regarding the mega cremation ground at Manikarnika Ghat, said that

Manikarnika Ghat was once a gem. Mani means a place where people

used to sit. During the construction of the mega cremation ground, the

contractor broke the gem, and at the same time, the statue of Ahilyabai Holkar

carved on the wall of the gem was damaged. This was due to the contractor's

negligence. Thirty-eight platforms will be built at the mega cremation ground,

and waiting rooms will also be constructed for those attending funeral

processions. All this is being done for the convenience of people bringing

bodies from Varanasi and beyond.

According

to Uttar Pradesh Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, the building of Manikarnika Ghat

costs Rs. 18 crore and is supported by CSR donations. The ghat will include 38

cremation platforms and six chimneys. A mani was destroyed as a result of

contractor error, harming an Ahilyabai statue that has since been carefully

conserved. Opposition politicians are spreading falsehoods about the tragedy.

The

Rupa Foundation has provided Rs.18 crore for the development work at

Manikarnika Ghat, and the development work is being carried out by the

implementing agency under the supervision of the administration. He said that

the opposition's sole purpose is to oppose. The BJP has begun celebrating

Ahilyabai's birth anniversary, while the opposition has never celebrated her

birth anniversary. Those who are grieving the loss of Ahilyabai's statue on

Mani's wall are shredding crocodile tears. Broken parts of the statue have been

preserved so that it can be repaired and reinstalled in the future.
