17 Jan (HS): Three labourers died in a road accident on the Purvanchal

Expressway in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh at around 1 am last night.

Seven others were seriously injured. Police have sent all the bodies for

post-mortem. Pickup driver Viru from Raebareli was going to Azamgarh last night

with 14 labourers. On the way, an unknown truck hit the pickup from behind.

After the collision, the truck driver fled towards Ghazipur and the pickup

overturned after hitting the MBCB.

In

this accident, Ajay Kumar (30), son of Ram Naresh, resident of Gambhirpur,

Raebareli, Kisan Pal (30) died on the spot and were brought dead to Dostpur

CHC. Rajoli (35), son of Ram Naresh, resident of Gambhirpur, Raebareli died

during treatment at Ambedkar Nagar District Hospital. Those injured in the

accident include Ashok (40), son of Naresh Pasi (45), son of Shriram, Ramprasad

(40), son of Nanku, Vinod (40), son of Gurudev, Dilip (35), son of Shiv

Shankar, Rajesh (40), son of Bhurelal and Raju (30), son of Ramnaresh. After

first aid, all of them were referred from Dostpur Hospital to Ambedkar Nagar

District Hospital.

During

the rescue operation, heavy fog caused another accident. A pickup truck loaded

with chickens, driven by Salman, a resident of Khorpur Buzurg, Thana

Sangrampur, Amethi, traveling from Sultanpur to Bihar, first hit a safety cone

and then collided with the crashed pickup truck. The pickup driver, Salman, was

also injured in this second collision and was rushed to the Government Hospital

in Dostpur by ambulance and later referred to Akbarpur District Hospital.

Dostpur Inspector Anirudh Singh said on Saturday that the bodies of the

deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination and their families have

been informed. Further action will be taken upon receipt of the application.
