New Delhi, 17 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday amplified a narrative of profound progress in Assam, sharing an article that chronicles the state's remarkable strides over the past 11 years in fostering peace, preserving cultural heritage, and bolstering infrastructure.

Responding to a post on X by Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) underscored a development paradigm that harmoniously integrates economic expansion with ecological stewardship, propelling Assam toward the ambitious vision of a Viksit Assam@2047 in consonance with Viksit Bharat@2047.

The highlighted article, disseminated via the PMO India handle, celebrates Assam's evolution from a region once beleaguered by insurgency and underdevelopment to India's fastest-growing state economy, registering an extraordinary 45 percent growth between 2020 and 2025—surpassing the national average by a wide margin.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has frequently attributed this momentum to comprehensive reforms, including a 54 percent surge in per capita income from Rs 1,03,371 in 2021 to Rs 1,69,185, alongside exemplary law enforcement achievements such as a nationwide-leading implementation of three new criminal laws, a steep decline in crime reporting from over 1.33 lakh complaints in 2021 to 43,748 recently, and zero rhino poaching in 2025.

Cultural renaissance forms a cornerstone of this narrative, with milestones like the conferment of World Heritage Status on Charaideo Maidams, Classical Language recognition for Assamese, and repatriation agreements for artifacts such as the Vrindavani Vastra from the British Museum.

Infrastructure leaps are equally emphatic: mega bridges spanning the Brahmaputra—including the under-construction Guwahati-North Guwahati and India's longest Dhubri-Phulbari links—coupled with advancements in healthcare via 17 cancer hospitals (nine operational), a pioneering state-government proton therapy unit, modernized Guwahati Medical College, and power sector boosts from the Kapili hydroelectric project and 350 MW solar integration.

Investment inflows underscore economic vitality, featuring transformative ventures like the Rs 27,000-crore Tata semiconductor plant, Rs 28,000-crore Numaligarh Refinery expansion, and land rights for tea garden workers poised to redefine livelihoods.

These strides, as echoed by PM Modi, reflect a balanced model prioritizing inclusive growth, environmental responsibility, and cultural preservation, positioning Assam as a beacon of holistic development today
