Guwahati, 14 January (HS): Union Minister of state for Foreign affairs Pabitra Margherita on Wednesday said that the resignation of Rijul Karim does not absolve Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi of responsibility, asserting that the Congress cannot escape accountability through resignations alone.

Margherita stated that Gaurav Gogoi must seek forgiveness from the people of Sivasagar and Tinsukia, symbolically carrying tamol-paan, for what he termed as misleading and divisive politics practiced by the Congress in Upper Assam.

The Union Minister further remarked that the people of Assam will never allow any so-called blueprint prepared by the Congress with regard to Upper Assam to succeed, adding that the party’s strategies are disconnected from ground realities and public sentiment.

Margherita’s comments come amid heightened political exchanges between the BJP and the Congress over recent developments in the state, particularly concerning leadership responsibility and public accountability.--------------
