Chandel (Manipur), 14 January (HS): A combined team of security forces along with the Forest Department destroyed around 65 acres of illegal poppy cultivation at the Govok hill range under Chakpikarong Police Station in Manipur’s Chandel district on Tuesday.

Officials said that during the operation, two temporary huts found at the site were also demolished. Poppy pods, poppy seeds and other materials related to the illegal cultivation were seized and destroyed on the spot.

Security agencies stated that such operations against illicit poppy cultivation and drug-related activities will continue as part of sustained efforts to curb narcotics production and trafficking in the region.-------
