Jammu, 14 January (H.S.): In a major action against the menace of drug peddling, police in Jhajjar Kotli area here recovered around 60 kilograms of poppy straw-like substance from a truck today.

Acting on specific inputs, a team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli, led by SHO concern, Inspector Vikas Dogra, intercepted a truck (JK02BK-4751) on the NH-44, a police official said.

On search of the vehicle, driven by one Harbhajan Singh of Hoshiarpur, Punjab, he said, 60 kilograms of poppy straw-like narcotic substance as recovered.

Accordingly, the accused driver and the owner of the vehicle, identified as Gurmeet Singh of RS Pura, Jammu, were arrested and booked in case FIR number 08/2026 under sections 8/15/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation taken up, added the police official.
