Srinagar, 14 January (H.S.): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Additional General Secretary and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Chowdary Muhammad Ramzan today urged New Delhi to respect the democratic mandate of the people and fulfill its promise of restoring full-fledged statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The NC leader was interacting with various delegations in Srinagar.
The delegations apprised him of various civic, developmental and administrative issues affecting their respective areas.
Ramzan assured the delegations that he will raise the issues with the concerned ministers for swift redressal.
He said, “Restoration of full statehood is not merely a political demand but a democratic and constitutional right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The people have expressed their will through the ballot. It is imperative that New Delhi honours this mandate and restores statehood without further delay.”
Highlighting the ongoing efforts of the Omar Abdullah-led elected Government, Ramzan said that the government is sincerely working towards bridging development gaps, strengthening governance and restoring public trust in institutions.
“The elected dispensation has also opened up corridors of power for the common people, ensuring greater accessibility, accountability and responsiveness in administration,” he added.
The NC leader assured the delegations that the National Conference will continue to raise the voice of the people at all appropriate forums until the legitimate demand for statehood is realized.
