Kolkata, 11 January (H.S.): A suicide attempt on Kolkata Metro disrupted services on Sunday evening, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. Metro services were partially suspended as a result.

According to Kolkata Metro Railway, a man attempted suicide at Netaji Bhavan Metro Station at 6:32 PM on Sunday. Security and emergency teams rushed to the scene upon receiving the report.

Following the incident, Metro services were modified for security reasons. Currently, Metro trains are running only between Maidan and Dakshineswar, and between Shahid Khudiram and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations.

The disruption led to overcrowding at station premises and platforms. Many passengers had to resort to alternative modes of transport.

The Metro administration is working to restore normal services.
