Washington , 10 January (H.S.): United States President Donald Trump reiterated on Friday, his determination to secure control over Greenland, dismissing Denmark's sovereignty claims and warning of forceful measures should negotiations falter during a White House session with oil executives.

Trump declared, We are going to do something on Greenland, whether they like it or not, preferring the easy way through a deal but prepared for the hard way amid escalating Russian and Chinese military presence in the Arctic, where the mineral-rich autonomous Danish territory holds strategic primacy for U.S. national security.

He rejected historical precedents, quipping, The fact that they had a boat land there 500 years ago doesn't mean that they own the land, despite the U.S. already operating Thule Air Base there.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen cautioned that any invasion would shatter NATO and postwar security frameworks, with European allies expressing alarm over Trump's rhetoric—echoing his prior term's failed purchase bid—while Secretary of State Marco Rubio schedules talks next week with Denmark's foreign minister and Greenland representatives.
