New York, September 2 (HS) : Defending champion Jannik Sinner maintained his impressive form at the US Open 2025 by delivering a crushing 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Kazakhstan’s 23rd-seeded Alexander Sablic to advance to the quarterfinals. The 24-year-old Italian star asserted dominance from the start in the Labor Day clash at Arthur Ashe Stadium, marking his 25th consecutive win at his favored hard court Grand Slam.
Sinner commented, “We know each other well. This year we have had some tough matches. Last time his match went long and he couldn’t fully use his serve. I broke him in every set, which gave me confidence. Playing my first night session is a special experience. Thanks to the crowd, it’s a very special moment for us.”
Building an early 4-0 lead in the opening set with double breaks, Sinner closed it out with an exquisite backhand winner. This victory ensures Sinner’s eighth consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance. In the quarterfinals, Sinner is set to face fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti. “Italian tennis is in a great phase right now. We have many players with different styles. Lorenzo is one of the biggest talents. Having an Italian player in the semifinals is certain and a matter of pride for us. There are many Italian fans in the crowd, which makes it even more special,” he said.
