Delhi, 4 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Port of Spain on a state visit to Trinidad and Tobago from 3-4 July 2025, marking the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister since 1999. The visit comes at the invitation of Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
He was warmly received at the airport by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, her Cabinet members, and dignitaries. The Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour and welcomed with special cultural performances.
Landed in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. I thank Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, distinguished members of the Cabinet, and MPs for the gesture of welcoming me at the airport. This visit will further cement bilateral ties between our nations. Looking forward to addressing a community programme in a few hours, PM Modi posted on X.
Upon reaching his hotel, he received an enthusiastic welcome from the Indian diaspora in T&T, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers.
In a separate post on X, PM Narendra Modi stated, “Very happy to have witnessed a Bhojpuri Chautaal performance in Port of Spain. The connection between Trinidad and Tobago and India, especially parts of eastern UP and Bihar, is noteworthy.”
PM Modi met members of the Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago, praising their contributions to the country's development and highlighting their success and connection to Indian culture.

Over the years, they have distinguished themselves in several fields and are enriching Trinidad and Tobago's development journey. At the same time, they have retained a connection with India and are also passionate about Indian culture.
