Delhi, 31 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate various development projects worth around Rs 2200 crore in Varanasi on 2nd August at 11 AM, addressing the gathering as well. The projects span infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage, focusing on comprehensive urban transformation and enhanced quality of life.

In infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the widening and strengthening of key roads, including the Varanasi-Bhadohi road and the new Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, as well as laying the foundation for further road improvements across rural and urban corridors and additional railway overbridges.

For power infrastructure, various works under the Smart Distribution Project and underground electrical works worth over Rs 880 crore will be initiated. Tourism will be boosted with the redevelopment of 8 riverfront Kuccha Ghats and beautification projects at Kalika Dham and Durgakund, alongside the foundation stone for the Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple restoration and other historical site developments.

Culturally significant water bodies will undergo purification and maintenance, while 47 Rural Drinking Water Schemes will be inaugurated to ensure potable water access under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Enhancements in education will be marked by the inauguration of 53 upgraded school buildings and the foundation stone for new educational initiatives, including a district library.

Health infrastructure will be uplifted with advanced medical equipment at cancer hospitals, the foundation for a Homoeopathic College and Hospital, and the establishment of an Animal Birth Control Centre. Sports infrastructure will see a new synthetic hockey turf at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium, and facilities for law enforcement will be improved with a Multipurpose Hall inauguration at PAC Ramnagar.

In farmer welfare, PM Modi will release the 20th instalment of PM-KISAN, transferring over Rs 20,500 crore to 9.7 crore farmers, crossing a total of Rs 3.90 lakh crore since the scheme began. Additionally, he will inaugurate a registration portal for competitive events under Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita and distribute assistive aids to the elderly and Divyangjan beneficiaries.
