New Delhi, July 3 (HS): The Election Commission met with representatives from various political parties to discuss the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar, designed to ensure all eligible citizens are included in the electoral roll. The final electoral roll will be published on September 30. Representatives from 10 parties, including Congress, RJD, SP, DMK, NCP, JMM, and left parties attended the meeting.
Participation includes 154,000 booth-level agents, with around 79 million voter registration forms being distributed from June 25 to July 3, which can also be downloaded online. The existing 2003 electoral roll serves as documentation. Submission conditions for documents are based on birth dates. Filled forms are due by July 25, with acknowledgments from Block Level Officers (BLO). The draft electoral roll will be published on August 1, and claims and objections will be processed by September 1. The Commission encourages active citizen involvement, ensuring no eligible voters miss out.
Voters registered in the electoral list as of January 1, 2003, need only to submit the enumeration form and a copy of the list. Individuals not listed must provide documentation for date and place of birth. Those born before July 1, 1987, need their own records; those born between July 1, 1987, and December 2, 2004, require their own and one parent’s documents; and those after December 2, 2004, must provide documents from both parents.Parent in 2003 electoral list needs no extra documents.
