Guwahati, 25 July (HS): Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday chaired a review meeting of the ongoing development projects and welfare schemes in Margherita Assembly constituency at the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Dibrugarh.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister, while discussing with senior district officials, administrative officials and public representatives, laid special emphasis on timely completion of infrastructure projects, ensuring last-mile reach of government schemes and strengthening health and education services.

The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Jal Jeevan Mission, Arunodaya, Ayushman Bharat. Along with this, he inquired about issues related to communication systems like the need for foot overbridge and the progress of the Assam Mala project. He also took stock of the functioning of health centers, human resource status and model Anganwadi centers.

Dr. Sarma also discussed the progress of erosion management projects and directed to complete them soon. He clarified that protection from river erosion is a top priority of the government and work will be done on a war footing in this direction.

In view of the lack of rain and drought-like conditions in Margherita and other areas of Tinsukia district, the Chief Minister directed Commissioner Swapnil Paul to add more and more farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and speed up the works of MNREGA so that more people can be linked to livelihood.

Reviewing the process of issuing birth certificates and Aadhar cards of children, the Chief Minister assured to resolve the problems coming in it soon. Emphasizing on the timely implementation of all government schemes, he said that their benefits should reach every eligible person at the ground level.

Along with the review of road connectivity and bridge construction projects, he also inquired about the status of educational infrastructure and appointments of teachers. Reiterating the government's commitment to inclusive development, the Chief Minister said that all obstacles coming in the implementation of the schemes will be removed. He directed the officials to maintain transparency and efficiency in service delivery, especially to ensure the reach of schemes to the deprived communities.

Minister Bimal Bora, MLA Bhaskar Sharma and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
