Colombo, July 17(HS): In the decisive T20 series match, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets, clinching the series 2-1. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a pivotal role with an unbeaten 73 runs, marking his highest score in T20 internationals. Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first, managing only 132 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Bangladesh began poorly, losing Parvez Hossain Emon for a duck.
However, Tamim and captain Liton Das stabilized the innings with a 74-run partnership before Liton was dismissed for 32. Tamim partnered with Towhid Hridoy, adding an unbroken 59 runs to secure victory, with Hridoy finishing on 27 runs not out. Earlier, Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan dominated with the ball, achieving career-best figures of 4 wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs.
Sri Lanka started strongly but faltered quickly, losing early wickets, including Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, and Charith Asalanka cheaply. Pathum Nissanka top-scored for Sri Lanka with 46 runs, supported by Dasun Shanaka's late 35 not out. Bangladesh’s victory by 8 wickets sealed the series in their favor.
