Guwahati, 14 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday paid tribute to the pioneer of modern Assamese literature, Nabakanta Barua, on his death anniversary.

The Chief Minister said in his message on social media that Nabakanta Barua is the name of the poet who gave a modern soul to Assamese literature and shaped an entire generation of thought and poetry. We pay our respects to him on his death anniversary.
