Delhi, 26 June (H.S.): The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, has authorized the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to use Aadhaar authentication for verifying candidates' identities in examinations and recruitment processes on a voluntary basis. This decision is part of the 'Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024', and follows the guidelines of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules, 2020.

The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology after consulting UIDAI, aims to enhance Good Governance in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector. It seeks to prevent impersonation and malpractices, ensuring a fair recruitment process, safeguarding genuine candidates, simplifying identity verification, and improving public trust in the examination system.
