Assam Police PRO has said that this success has been achieved due to the operation based on intelligence and action taken by Karbi Anglong Police. The surrender has taken place in Dhansiri, which is a big success for Assam Police after a continuous operation based on intelligence.

Assam Police said in a post on its social media platform, In line with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma's vision of peace and progress, Karbi Anglong Police launched a series of simultaneous outreach as well as intelligence based operations. As a result, 10 misguided youths, who were attempting to form a new extremist group called DHDU, surrendered with weapons.

According to the police, the weapons handed over to the police by the group members include 1 AK series rifle, 3 pistols, 1 SB gun, 1 grenade and ammunition. Praising the success in a post on social media, Assam Police Director General Harmeet Singh wrote that ensuring peace is our motto.

Police officials said the operation began in April after intelligence inputs revealed that the DHDU was secretly mobilizing to revive the underground separatist movement in the hill districts. The outfit, mainly comprising youths from the Dimasa tribal community, had reportedly started the process of recruiting more members and collecting arms.

Officials said the timely detection of the outfit's plans prevented the possibility of resurgence of armed militancy in the region. The Superintendent of Police said the surrender is a testimony to our commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Karbi Anglong. The investigation is underway and the police are determined to thwart any attempt to disrupt harmony in the area.
