
Shillong, 17 June (HS): In the case of the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi at Wei Sodong waterfall in Sohra, Meghalaya on Tuesday, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) went to the spot and recreated the crime scene in detail. This action proved helpful in getting to the bottom of the case.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Siem said, Today's recreation was very successful and it gave us a very clear picture of the entire incident.
According to the SP, the team first started from the parking lot where the accused had left their two-wheelers. From there they went to the crime scene to understand who was where just before the murder.
The Police investigation has revealed that the murder was committed in three successive attacks - first Vishal attacked, then Anand and finally Akash. The accused gave details of the weapons used in the murder and said that one of the weapons is still missing. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is conducting a search operation to find it.
The SIT also recreate the attempts to destroy evidence after the murder. According to the accused, the victim's mobile was first damaged by Sonam, then Vishal completely broke it.
The entire sequence of events— from reaching the crime scene to the murder, destroying evidence and leaving— was recreated in detail to give a decisive direction to the investigation.
Earlier this morning, Vipin Raghuvanshi, the elder brother of the deceased Raja Raghuvanshi, expressed satisfaction over the action being taken by the Meghalaya Police. He said that there could be no bigger betrayal than this. He said that if Sonam meets him, he will ask why she killed Raja.
