Los Angeles, May 9 (H.S.): Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. LA28 organizers announced this on Thursday.

The Olympic opening ceremony, taking place on July 14, 2028, will be uniquely held at two venues - the historic Coliseum and the modern SoFi Stadium. The Coliseum will become the first venue in Olympic history to host the Games three times.

LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman stated in a statement, These two venues symbolize Los Angeles's sports heritage and technological advancement. This will be an unforgettable experience for audiences coming from all over the world.

The Olympic closing ceremony will be held at the Coliseum on July 30, which organizers are describing as an 'unforgettable celebration.' The Paralympic opening ceremony will take place at SoFi Stadium on August 15, while the closing ceremony will be completed at the Coliseum on August 27.

Los Angeles previously hosted the Olympics in 1932 and 1984. However, 2028 will mark the first time this city hosts the Paralympic Games as well. Organizers mentioned, The Paralympic closing ceremony will be the final memorable glimpse of the LA28 Games, permanently linking the Olympic and Paralympic movement to Los Angeles.

LA28 had announced some other event venues last month. Beach volleyball competitions will take place at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, while squash will make its Olympic debut at Universal Studios in Hollywood.
