Bangalore, 31 May (H.S.): Lokayukta officials today conducted massive raids in various districts of Karnataka as part of their crackdown on corruption. The raids took place in several districts including Kalaburagi, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Gadag, Haveri, Bellary, Udupi, and Davangere, and documents were checked at the homes, offices, and relatives of several government officials.
In Gadag district, raids were conducted under the leadership of Lokayukta SP Hanamantharaya at six locations, including the house and office of Gangadhar Shirol, the project director of Nirmiti Kendra, and inspections were also conducted at the homes of family members.
A raid was conducted on the house of Amin Mukhtar, Superintendent Engineer of the Public Works Department, in Kalaburagi district. During this, property deeds worth lakhs of rupees, 25 acres of land records, petrol pump, crusher machine licenses, etc. were found.
Raids have been conducted at five locations against Girish Rao Mene, the Accounts Officer of Karkala MESCOM Division in Udupi district, following allegations of having assets beyond his income.
The house and offices of H. Suresh, the chief engineer of the Public Works Department, were raided in Dharwad and several important documents were seized.
A joint operation by Lokayukta officers from Haveri and Davangere districts raided the PDO office and the house of Gram Panchayat Officer Ramakrishnappa Gudageri in Bada village of Shiggaon taluk.
The Lokayukta raided the house and jewellery shops of Srishail Tatrani, First Class Assistant of the Accounts Department of the Bagalkot District Collector's Office. The raid was conducted under the leadership of Bagalkot Lokayukta DySP Siddeshwar.
