New Delhi, May 22 (H.S.): The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the large-scale blocking of seats in PG medical courses and has instructed all private and deemed universities to disclose the fees before the NEET PG counseling. This decision by the Supreme Court came in response to a petition by the Uttar Pradesh government, challenging a 2018 decision of the Allahabad High Court.
The bench, headed by Justice J.B. Pardiwala, stated that blocking seats does not reflect the actual availability of seats and creates inequality among candidates. The court emphasized that blocking seats is not only unethical but also affects transparency. The court ordered the administration to take punitive action against seat blocking. These punitive actions may include confiscation of security deposits, disqualification from future NEET-PG examinations, and blacklisting of the guilty colleges.
