New Delhi, May 22 (HS): The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has postponed the hearing in the case registered against BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia and other leaders for violating COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 and vandalizing the water board office. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal has ordered the next hearing of the case to be held on July 3.

Initially, this case was being heard in the Tis Hazari Court. When Yogendra Chandolia became an MP, the hearing of this case was transferred to the Rouse Avenue Court. The Rouse Avenue Court is a special court for MPs and MLAs.

During the hearing, the court noted that the court staff had not served a summons to the complainant in this case for testimony. After that, the court directed the court staff to not make such mistakes in the future and ordered the next hearing of the case to be held on July 3. On May 3, the court had framed charges against Yogendra Chandolia and other leaders.

In this case, Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha had filed a complaint with the Delhi police in 2020. Based on Raghav Chadha's complaint, the Delhi police registered an FIR at the Deshbandhu Gupta Police Station.

In this case, BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia, BJP leader Aadesh Gupta, Ravi Tanwar, and Vikas Tanwar have been named as accused. The Delhi police filed a chargesheet in the case under sections 188, 269, 147, 148, 149, 427 of the Indian Penal Code and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Pandemic Act. The Tis Hazari Court acknowledged the chargesheet on October 17, 2023, and issued summons to the accused.
