Madrid (Spain), May 21 (HS): Andriy Portnov, a former senior associate of pro-Russia ex-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in broad daylight in a Madrid suburb. The 51-year-old was attacked in his car at 9:15 AM local time. Police quickly cordoned off the area after the shooting, where he was targeted in the back and head before the assailants fled. The incident occurred near the American School of Madrid, which has over 1,000 students, all reported safe. Portnov's son is believed to be among the students there. In 2021, he faced U.S. sanctions under the Magnitsky Act for corruption and bribery.
