Abuja (Nigeria), May 31(HS): Floods in northern Niger state, Nigeria, have resulted in significant loss of life and property, with at least 150 fatalities reported in Mokwa due to heavy rainfall. By Saturday morning, 151 bodies, including children, were recovered, and more than 3,000 individuals have been displaced.
The death toll may increase, as noted by Ibrahim Hussaini from the state's emergency management agency. In Mokwa, resident Hassan Abdullah lost nine family members in the flooding, including young children. President Bola Tinubu has pledged federal assistance to those impacted, acknowledging the tragedy and confirming that search and rescue operations are actively underway.
