Mumbai, 19 May (HS): An old dispute between two
families turned violent on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of three and injuring
four. The incident occurred in the Ganpat Patil Nagar of Dahisar Suburb of
Mumbai.
The rivalry between the two families flared up when
Hamid Sheikh (49) entered into verbal arguments with Ram Gupta (50) at the
latter’s coconut stall. Hamid was in an inebriated condition. A minor scuffle
between the two turned violent as members of both the families started beating
each other. Ram Gupta, his son Arvind (23) and Hamid Sheikh received serious
injuries and were rushed to a hospital. The doctors at the hospital pronounced them
dead.
Amar Gupta, Amit Gupta, Arman Sheikh and Hasan
Sheikh received injuries and have been hospitalised. The Gupta and Sheikh families were not on good
terms for last two years. Police have intensified security and have appealed
to the people to maintain peace.
